Working Together

We talked about cooperation and working together this week. We used the book The Crayon Box That Talked to discuss how everyone is happier when they are nice and work together. We made a puzzle together as a class. Each child colored their own piece and then we worked as a class to put it together.

This Little Piggy

We talked about our class "rules" using the book This Little Piggy's Book of Manners. It is a really cute
book comparing little piggies who use their manners and those who don't with lines like "This little piggy shared her toys. This little piggy said 'MINE!'"

After reading the book, the kids practiced using good manners so they could be good little piggies too. In the older class some kids used good manners and some didn't then the rest of the kids had to decide if they were being good little piggies or not.

After, the kids drew pictures of piggies who were using good manners at school.

To make the noses I covered half of a toilet paper roll with pink craft foam. I taped the foam around the outside of the roll and glued a circle on the front. For the ears, I put some foam triangles on the top of a headband. To help it look a little more pig-ish, I folded in one of the corners of the ear.

Welcome Back!

We made it through our first week of school and the kids did amazing! The returning kids really helped the others learn the rules and routines. I was so impressed with all the kids and I am so excited for the rest of the year!

This year we are going to be talking about places. Our theme is "Oh the Places We'll Go." Here's our welcome board for the kids.

New Friends

We have some new friends that will be joining us at school this year. : )

This fun new tank will now be part of our classroom to observe and learn about fish.

Back to School Night

Hi all! I hope you are having a great summer! Our Back to School Night will be Thursday Aug. 11 at 6:30. I will send out invites as the time gets closer. Back to School Night is open to current students and also to families interested in coming to Chipman's Corner Preschool for the 2011 school year.
